Ideas for Children’s New Year Resolutions

Ideas for Children’s New Year Resolutions

The New Year is always a good time to begin anew. This is the time when we make resolutions to try and improve things about ourselves. This year, why not get your children to make resolutions? Read about some simple and practical ways to help children make resolutions. Here are some ideas for areas children can explore to set their resolutions.

Eat healthy – Resolve to eat less junk and avoid sugary drinks. Develop healthy eating habits by including more fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Less screen-time; more reading – Limit time spent on computers, mobiles, tablets, and other gadgets. Learn to harness technology for learning instead. Read more books and read for at least 20 minutes every day!

Exercise or Play a sport – Make time for some daily physical activity. Whether it is an organized sport or a visit to the park, ensure you get some exercise to stay healthy.

Get and Stay Organized – Keep the room tidy, organize work, schedule daily activities like homework, extracurricular classes etc, helping out with chores – Get into the habit of planning the day as this will help learn time management and responsibility.

Focus on Academics – Set better study and homework habits.  Try and set up a dedicated and quiet space for study. Make homework a priority and learn to set academic goals.

Sleep better – Get enough sleep by not engaging with gadgets before bed. Instead, read before bedtime. Sleeping better increases energy and boosts concentration.

Understand Self – Keep a journal and track reflections and important events in your life. Jot down feelings and learn to manage emotions.

Nurture Relationships – Develop a habit of being kind. Practice mindfulness. Prioritize relationships over material things. Bond with family.

Keep learning – Use every opportunity to learn something new. Develop a hobby and cultivate your passion.

Be eco-friendly – Be conscious about the environment and be eco-friendly in all that you do. Follow mantras of Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

We hope this list inspires healthy and fruitful discussions with your children to help zero in on their resolutions.

Wishing you a super year ahead!
